The Adventures of the Halstead Fam!

Coastal Tent Trailer Adventures – Day 5

Newport has always been one of our favorite places to visit.  Because of Samuel’s nap schedule and how easy it is travel during his naps (lots of sweet snoring and very little “get me outta this car seat” screaming), we didn’t get to spend much time here.  We did, however, enjoy a delicious breakfast at Pig ‘n Pancake.  This has been on our coastal radar for a while but always through of it as a glorified Denny’s.  We were wrong – the pancakes there are awesome, the coffee is decent, and the staff was supper hospitable.  Our waiter even brought us night warm water for Samuel’s bottle.

We made our first stop on the way home in Corvallis.  Avery Park and the OSU campus served us well as places to lay in the grass, pull on leaves, grab a cup of coffee, and get out some baby wiggles before another longer stint in the car.  With the colors of fall returning to the PNW and the warm sun of an autumn day, it couldn’t be beat.

Now we are home, grateful for a fantastic week away exploring and sharing the outdoors with our son.  Though these days are precious, we both are really excited to watch his love for camping and creation unfold as he becomes better able to participate in the experience.
