This afternoon (or early this morning depending on what continent you are on) we landed at Heathrow Airport in London, England! After getting the feeling back in our legs from sitting for just shy of 11 hours we made our way down to the tube, bought a couple of day passes and made our way across the city to our hostel. Our room is tiny but we each have a bed and that is all we can ask or hope for. 🙂
After washing our faces & changing our shirts we felt like new people. We wandered down to the south bank of the Thames River and gazed upon the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and wandered around the gorgeous statues outside the gates of Buckingham Palace.
We also enjoyed our first taste of London food – fish ‘n’ chips! It is served a little different here, with peas on the side and
literally half a fish on each of our plates. It was delicious and exactaly what our taste buds needed (don’t get me wrong, the food on the plane was OK, but let’s be real….).
We are hoping to spend tomorrow learning more of London’s history via some local walking tours and hopefully a geocache or two…. 🙂
