The past year was full of a lot of adventures, new friendships, challenges, chances to serve together, and lots of joy. Throughout 2013 we….
- Both attended graduate school! Stead completed his MBA from NCU in May. Sarah is still charging forward in NCU’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and will be starting her internship this year. We are blessed to work at a University that encourages and supports us to learn & better ourselves. And speaking of us working at a University…. (this is Stead and our friend Juan after they both graduated with their MBAs!)
- Stead started a new job! After working at a great foster care research organization while doing his MBA, Stead was offered and accepted the opportunity to work at NCU as the Network & Systems Administrator. We love being able to work at the same place. (www.nwcu.edu)
- Officially became members of Northpark Community Chuch! We love our Northpark family. Our church is active in serving our neighborhood in practical, gospel driven projects that include food distribution to the neighborhood’s elementary school students & a summer kick-off block party. - Led a mission trip together! In all our time leading and serving together, we have never had the chance to actually go on a mission trip together. We took a group of 8 amazing NCU students to San Francisco over their spring break to serve at the San Francisco Mission Outpost. It was such a great trip that Sarah is going to lead the same trip again this year!
- Participated in the Portland Bridge Pedal! Later in the summer we joined our friends Jake & Emily for a special biking adventure in Portland. We biked over 6 of PDX’s favorite bridges, coasted down the freeway, and affirmed that we love biking. The Bridge Pedal has inspired us to venture a little bit farther on our bikes in 2014. We are hoping to complete the Seattle to Portland bike ride this summer.
- Explored Oregon! We took advantage of every free weekend we had to explore more and more of Oregon. Some of our favorite places include Bend, Sisters, and the coast (Florence is close & full of lighthouses & hikes). Over the winter we strapped on our snow shoes & enjoyed the snowy hills of McKenzie Pass.
We are so grateful for what this last year has been & can’t wait to see what’s ahead! 2014, here we come!
